Caution: Composers at Work!
Here are some of the first graders working hard on composing their own four-beat compositions using several different music symbols. They will share and perform them for their peers next week!
Sound the Trumpets!
On Monday, Mr. Andrew Balio, the principal trumpeter for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, came and gave a special presentation for Ms. Walker's and Ms. Juarez' classes in music. He played a several different types of trumpets and styles of music for our young students and helped to explain how trumpets make sound. It was a real treat!

BSO on the Go!
Earlier this week, we had two fabulous musicians from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra visit Shriver. They gave two presentations for groups of third and fourth graders that were about sound, vibrations, and families of instruments. Our students were so engaged and here are a few pictures and videos that highlighted this special visit.

Bow Wow Wow (Ruff!)
Here is Ms. Nydick's class singing and moving to "Bow Wow Wow." Students enjoyed adding a "Ruff" when they gave each other a high-five in the song to imitate a dog barking.

Everybody Gogo!

Bow Wow Wow
Here are students in Ms. Gittleman's second grade class dancing to an American play song, "Bow Wow Wow." Notice how they keep changing partners--it was lots of fun!
